Metroid Prime is proof that fans are receptive to massive gameplay changes to iconic games if they are done right. So, whenever Nintendo even hints at announcing a new Metroid game, fans are quick to take notice. After all, there is a reason why there's an entire genre dedicated to games that are like Metroid (and Castlevania). As one of the oldest franchises in existence, the long-running Nintendo franchise has spawned numerous sequels since coming onto the market in 1986 and has influenced the industry in more ways than you possibly could imagine.
